Pass Me The Watermelon, Please!

By , May 31, 2012

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of summer? Perhaps it’s a fresh mountain breeze. A freshly-squeezed glass of lemonade. Or maybe a refreshing slice of juicy watermelon.

Fact is, there’s something about the summer season that ushers in a feeling of freshness, energy and positive vibes; the enthusiasm of summer is just bursting with life and activity.

And even modern medicine will back me up on that one.

A recent study in the Nature Neuroscience Journal reveals that the season you’re born in can significantly impact the way your body works. Evidence suggests that infants born in the summer months have happier lifelong dispositions than winter babies and will generally possess more positive personalities.

But quite frankly, you don’t have to have a PhD in neuroscience to realize that the splendor of summer can teach us all a thing or two about keeping things bright and fresh. Successful entrepreneurs and businesspeople know just how valuable it is to freshen things up and infuse your company with an invigorating overhaul – especially during the energizing summer season.

I myself plan on doing so during the upcoming months and, in that spirit, am enclosing a few Ptex Practical Pointers to help you accomplish this important objective, too:

Freshen Up Goals: Spend an entire day away from the office (preferably outside in the sunshine) and don’t answer your cell phone or respond to emails. Rather, give serious thought to where you want to take your business; how you can increase sales; boost employee morale; add more products or services; and create a real plan that’ll help take your company to the next level.

Freshen Up Marketing: Whether it’s print advertising, direct mail, billboards or online marketing platforms, spend time evaluating your existing marketing strategy and think about what other clever methods or attention-grabbing ideas you can roll out to make the most out of your marketing dollars.

Freshen Up Life: The pressures of running a business and working long hours will often leave you missing out on spending quality time with your loved ones. That’s why it’s so very important to set aside “family time” each week – and use that precious block of time to connect with those who are truly important in life.

Ultimately, the point here is to harness the invigorating energy of summertime living and effectively apply it to your own business…all year long.

So if you happen to see me this summer sitting on a lawn chair while munching on a juicy watermelon wedge, please don’t think that I’m slacking on the job; I’m actually in the process of growing my company. Want to grow your company as well? Please feel free to come join me – and I promise to save you an extra slice!
